To deepen the children’s understanding of marine conservation, our parent volunteers facilitated a creative culinary activity where the children made their own Vegetable Coral Reefs. The activity introduced the children to coral reefs and their importance as habitats for many marine creatures. The children used yoghurt to represent the seabed, then added carrot and cucumber sticks and apple slices to create their colourful reefs. With support from the parent volunteers, they arranged the ingredients to create their own edible underwater habitats. Through this hands-on experience, the children learnt about the importance of protecting coral reefs and caring for our oceans. After completing their creations, they enjoyed eating their Vegetable Coral Reefs together.
