Our SSDB 2026 journey officially began with an exciting launch, bringing together children and educators from both our Skool-Ready and EduCare classes. This year’s theme, “Family,” is inspired by Families for Life, with a focus on strengthening family bonds and nurturing positive family values through meaningful learning experiences.
To bring the theme to life, each age group has been assigned a family value from Families for Life that will guide their learning throughout the project:
- Infant: Love - Playgroup & Nursery 1: Care - Nursery 2: Respect - K1: Honesty - K2: Responsibility
These values will serve as the foundation for each class’s investigations, discussions, and hands-on experiences, helping children understand how these values can be practiced both in school and at home.
As part of the launch, every class worked together to create a personalized class banner. Children contributed their ideas and participated in decorating the banner, creating a visual representation of their class. Proudly displayed on each classroom window, the banners symbolise the beginning of an exciting journey of discovery and collaboration.
The launch also introduced children to the purpose of the SSDB project, encouraging them to wonder, ask questions, and share their own experiences about family. These initial conversations sparked curiosity and provided educators with valuable insights into the children’s understanding of the people who matter most in their lives.
Throughout the coming months, children will engage in a variety of meaningful experiences centered around family values. By partnering closely with families, we hope to create authentic learning opportunities that strengthen children’s understanding of positive relationships while fostering empathy, kindness, honesty, respect, responsibility, and love.
As we embark on this exciting journey together, we look forward to capturing the children’s voices, documenting their discoveries, and celebrating the many ways our school community comes together to demonstrate that strong families build strong futures.
