One of our project was our Mother’s Day celebration, where children and their mothers came together to celebrate their love and create special memories together.
The event provided opportunities for children to express their appreciation for their mothers through songs, movement, play and creative experiences. It was wonderful to see the children excitedly preparing and practising their Mother’s Day songs before the celebration. Through these preparations, the children learned that there are many ways to show love and appreciation for the people who care for them.
🎶 Celebrating with Song and Movement
The celebration began with our children sharing their Mother’s Day songs and performances. The children sang and danced with enthusiasm, bringing smiles to the faces of their mothers and families.
For our younger children, recorded performances allowed them to participate in the celebration in a way that was comfortable and meaningful for their age and developmental stage.
Through singing and dancing, the children were able to express their feelings while developing their confidence and enjoyment in performing together.
💕 Special Moments Between Mothers and Children The celebration also included fun opportunities for mothers and children to interact and play together. One of the activities was “Find Your Mom by Her Voice”, where children listened carefully as the mothers called their names. The children then tried to recognise their own mother by her voice. This playful experience encouraged the children to listen, observe and connect with their mothers in a fun and meaningful way.
Another special activity was “Massage Mom”, where children had the opportunity to show care and affection towards their mothers. These simple moments of touch and interaction reminded us that showing love does not always require words, sometimes, a gentle action can speak volumes.
🎨 Creating Together with Recycled Materials Family time was also extended through a creative Mother’s Day craft activity. Mothers and children worked together using recycled and reusable materials such as paper bags, newspapers and drink bags to create a special keepsake.
The activity encouraged families to work together, share ideas and enjoy the process of creating something meaningful. More importantly, it showed children that everyday materials can be given a new purpose instead of being thrown away.
This connected our Family theme with our focus on sustainability, helping children understand that caring for the environment is also something families can do together.
👨👩👧👦 Growing Together as a Family The Mother’s Day celebration was more than just an event. It was an opportunity for children and their families to connect, play, create and celebrate together.
Through these shared experiences, children learned that family is about caring, helping, listening, spending time together and showing appreciation for one another.
We are grateful to all the families who joined us and made the celebration so special. The laughter, smiles and moments shared between our children and their mothers truly reflected the heart of our Start Small Dream Big – Family theme.
