To deepen their understanding and appreciation of nature, the children embarked on a field trip to Admiralty Park, where they explored the natural environment through a guided nature scavenger hunt. As they walked through the park, the children observed and searched for different types of plants, leaves, flowers and other natural elements, while teachers encouraged them to notice the diversity of plant life around them. They also learnt about the importance of following park rules, such as staying on designated paths, respecting plants and animals, keeping the surroundings clean and leaving nature undisturbed. Through these experiences, the children developed greater curiosity and awareness of how they can be responsible visitors and play a part in protecting shared green spaces.
As a post-field trip activity, the children collected selected fallen leaves, sticks, twigs and flowers to create dioramas depicting their own mini gardens or their interpretation of Singapore as a Garden City. This hands-on experience allowed them to creatively represent what they had observed and learnt, while reinforcing the message that caring for nature begins with appreciating and respecting the environment around us.
