Caring for the Elderly: Launching Our SSDB 2026 Journey

On 18 May 2026, our Nursery 2 children officially launched their six-month Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project, Caring for the Elderly. The project aims to help children develop an understanding of the importance of showing care, respect and appreciation towards the elderly in their families and community.

To introduce the project, teachers engaged the children through storytelling, discussions, arts and crafts activities, and a simple dance performance. During these experiences, the children shared stories about their grandparents and discussed ways they could show love and care for them. These conversations encouraged the children to reflect on their relationships with their grandparents and recognise the important role they play within the family.

As part of the launch, the children created heart-shaped crafts and brought them home as a special gift for their grandparents. Through this activity, the children expressed their appreciation and gratitude in a meaningful way while celebrating the special bond they share with their loved ones.

Throughout this six-month journey, the children will participate in a variety of experiences that will help them learn more about the elderly and understand how small acts of kindness can make a difference in the lives of others. They will have opportunities to interact with seniors, listen to their stories and explore ways to show care and appreciation through meaningful actions.

As the project unfolds, the children will continue to develop empathy, respect and a sense of social responsibility. Together with their families and community partners, they will learn that even small actions can create positive change and help build stronger connections across generations.
