This is the 8th year that our centre, PCF Sparkletots @ Braddell Heights Branch Blk 246, has participated in the Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project. This year’s theme, “Mission: Blue Possible,” aims to foster environmental consciousness and a sense of responsibility among children, with a particular focus on water conservation and marine sustainability. Through meaningful and hands-on learning experiences, children are encouraged to develop care and empathy towards marine life, understand the importance of protecting our water resources, and recognise that even small actions can make a positive difference to our blue planet.
Our SSDB journey began with the introduction of the theme, where children explored the importance of water and the role it plays in supporting people, animals, and the environment. Through discussions, stories, and interactive activities, children learned about the impact of water pollution, the importance of conserving water, and the ways in which they can contribute to protecting our oceans and waterways. These experiences encouraged children to become curious, responsible, and active participants in caring for the environment.
The SSDB launch was conducted through a field trip to Tots on Tour: “Ocean Rescue” in May 2026. The experience provided an engaging and meaningful introduction to this year’s theme, “Mission: Blue Possible.” During the field trip, children helped Toto the turtle clean its home by picking up trash that was polluting the water. Through this hands-on activity, they learned about the harmful effects of litter on marine life and the importance of keeping our oceans clean. Children also explored ways to reuse recyclable materials by transforming them into creative crafts, helping them understand how everyday items can be given a new purpose instead of being discarded. The experience sparked children’s curiosity and encouraged them to recognise that even small actions can make a positive difference in protecting our blue planet. It served as a meaningful starting point for their SSDB journey, inspiring them to become young advocates for a cleaner and healthier marine environment.
