The June Holiday Programme was conducted over a period of four weeks, with activities centred around the theme, “Mission: Blue Possible.” The children explored four key topics: “What is Pollution?”, “Our Marine Life”, “Our Sustainable Habits”, and “Our Future Blue Sea”. Through a variety of engaging and hands-on activities, children developed a deeper understanding of water pollution, marine life, and the importance of adopting sustainable habits. They participated in case studies that encouraged them to identify environmental problems, discuss their causes and effects, and explore possible solutions. Children were also engaged in STEMIE experiences, where they used their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to design inventions aimed at addressing water pollution problems. In addition, they learned about the importance of caring for marine life and explored practical ways to protect our oceans and waterways. Throughout the programme, children were encouraged to recognise their roles as ambassadors of the blue sea, understanding that their everyday actions can contribute towards a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable marine environment.
As part of the project, children were given opportunities to apply their learning through STEMIE experiences and the creation of environmentally friendly inventions. Using recycled and reusable materials, they explored ways to address environmental challenges and protect marine life. These activities encouraged collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and a sense of ownership towards their learning. These experiences encouraged children to take ownership of their learning and recognise that, as young ambassadors of the blue sea, they can contribute meaningful ideas towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
