Love Across Generations: Caring for Our Grandparents "Promoting Fire Safety Awareness in the Community"

As part of our Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project, the K1 and K2 children, alongside their parents, guardians, and grandparents, became young community advocates by promoting the importance of fire safety during Fire Prevention Month. Together, they learned how everyone can play a part in preventing fires and keeping the community safe. The children designed colourful and informative fire prevention posters, sharing simple but important fire safety messages such as staying away from matches and lighters, not playing with fire, and informing an adult immediately if they notice a fire hazard. Taking their learning beyond the classroom, the children visited the surrounding community to educate elderly residents about fire prevention. They confidently shared fire safety tips, presented their handmade posters, and distributed fire safety flyers together with a fire extinguisher as a reminder of the importance of fire preparedness. Through these meaningful interactions, the children demonstrated confidence, empathy, and a genuine desire to care for the well-being of others. This enriching experience empowered our children to become responsible and caring citizens who understand that everyone has a role to play in keeping the community safe. By raising awareness and spreading important fire safety messages, they discovered that even the smallest voices can make a meaningful difference. Together, we inspired our community to stay alert, stay prepared, and work hand in hand towards building a safer and more caring Singapore—one small act of kindness at a time.
