Love Across Generations: Caring for Our Grandparents. Little Footprints Preschool @Serangoon Central
Title: IMG_7903.JPGRetroGems Intergenerational Programme at NTUC Health Day Centre and Start Small Dream Big Launch Party!
RetroGems is Singapore’s first evidence-based intergenerational games initiative, thoughtfully designed to create meaningful interactions between young children and seniors. Through guided play, the programme aims to bridge the generational gap, foster mutual understanding, and address the social needs of Singapore’s ageing society. The K1 and K2 children participated in a total of eight sessions, with each level attending four sessions separately. These sessions provided valuable opportunities for children and seniors to build relationships, learn from one another, and create meaningful shared experiences.
The programme beautifully demonstrated that learning knows no age. By working and playing together, both generations formed genuine friendships, strengthened community bonds, and celebrated the importance of kindness, respect, and inclusivity.
The RetroGems experience reflected our SSDB theme, "Love Across Generations: Caring for Our Grandparents." Through every shared game, conversation, and smile, the children learned the importance of showing love, kindness, respect, and appreciation to the elderly, while building meaningful relationships that bridged generations and strengthened our sense of community.
