As part of Read for Good 2026, an initiative by the National Library Board (NLB), we organised daily reading sessions to nurture our children’s love for books and stories. Through reading together, the children not only discovered the joy of reading but also learnt the value of caring for the community, as their participation helped raise books for underprivileged children and beneficiaries.
The story follows Little Red Riding Hood as she sets off through the forest to visit her grandmother and bring her some food. Along the way, she meets a wolf who tries to find out where she is going. The story introduces young children to familiar characters such as Little Red Riding Hood, Grandma, and the wolf, while encouraging them to follow the sequence of events and explore simple concepts such as being careful, listening to trusted adults, and helping others. As a big book experience, the large illustrations and simple storyline provide opportunities for toddlers to engage with the pictures, recognise characters, repeat familiar words and phrases, and participate through actions, sounds, and simple questions.
