The children participated in an engaging Ecophonics workshop where they had the opportunity to learn more about plants and how they grow. During the first session, the children were introduced to different types of plants and explored the various stages of a plant’s growth cycle. They learned how plants begin from seeds and develop into seedlings and mature plants, while discussing what plants need to grow and stay healthy.
In the second session, the children took part in a hands-on planting activity. They prepared their own plants using recycled bottles that they had creatively decorated together with their parents. Each child received an Epipremnum plant and soil, and with guidance from the facilitators, they carefully placed the soil and plant into their recycled bottle.
The children were also introduced to a simple self-watering plant structure, which allowed them to understand how plants can receive water through a self-watering system. Through this experience, the children developed a greater appreciation for plants, learned about caring for living things, and discovered how recycled materials can be reused creatively and meaningfully. The activity also encouraged them to take responsibility for caring for their own plant and observing its growth over time.
