Cultural Collaboration with People’s Association – Chingay Parade

Khalsa kindergarten had the opportunity to partner with People’s Association to educate the preschool children on appreciating the other cultures. Every year, People’s Association had been organising ‘Chingay Parade’. Chingay Parade had always been an eye-opener for all races. They had always engaged schools from primary, secondary, JC and tertiary institutions.

For the very first time, People’s Association invited preschools and got the children’s involvement in learning the different races in Singapore through the first ever Chingay children’s book titled ‘My little Chingay Float’ and ‘Chingay Activity Fun Kit’. This Activity Fun Kit was given to children to have a better understanding of different cultures through a story. Through this story, children learnt about the symbol of hope, diversity and unity.

By involving the preschoolers, they will be introduced to the history and traditions of Chingay in a fun way. Chingay also highlights how community spirit, diversity, and how lending a helping hand can bring people closer and create something truly special. Also, sparks wonder in the children’s hearts and cultivate appreciation for Singapore’s living heritage which is the Chingay Parade.

As part of the collaboration between People’s Association and Khalsa Kindergarten, photos were taken of children completing the ‘Chingay Activity Fun Kit’. Chingay had fun completing the activity kit and the story book enhances the children’s knowledge of Singapore’s diversity. Following the collaboration, Khalsa kindergarten had the opportunity to attend the National education show of Chingay which was open to preschools, primary and secondary schools.

Khalsa Kindergarten invited selected K2 children and their parents to attend the National Education of Chingay. Children together with parents and teachers alike enjoyed the Chingay which emphasis on community spirit, diversity and how to lend a helping hand to other races. Khalsa Kindergarten looks forward to such collaborations with People’s Association.
