In line with our SSDB project, our N2 children had the opportunity to share their interests and curiosities about the environment around them. They were especially fascinated by the animals in their neighbourhood and asked many thoughtful questions, such as, "Where do lizards like to hide?", "Where do snakes live?", and "Why aren't we allowed to feed wild animals?" We documented their questions on a KWL chart and spent the month of June exploring the answers through our Project Approach.
Our curious learners took part in a variety of hands-on experiences, including a scavenger hunt to find pictures of lizards and mosquitoes (a lizard's food source), creating their own snakes using AB patterns, and completing an obstacle course where they practised tiptoeing quietly around animals, picking up litter, and keeping food away from wildlife.
To conclude our Project Approach and officially kick off our SSDB project, the children celebrated with a mini launch party! They designed their own binoculars, embraced their role as young environmental stewards, and made a pledge to care for and protect the plants, animals, and environment around them.
