2026 Start Small, Dream Big : From Caring for Our Earth to Caring for Our Community

Our Journey This year, children from Playgroup (18 months) to K2 (6 years old) embarked on a meaningful Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) journey. What began as an exploration of environmental sustainability gradually evolved into an inquiry about food wastage, food insecurity and community service. Through hands-on experiences, discussions and real-life action, the children discovered that caring for the Earth also means caring for the people who share it.

22 April 2026 Tuning In: SSDB & Earth Day Go Green Launch Party Our SSDB journey began with an Earth Day Go Green Launch Party, where children and families explored ways to care for the environment. Through activities such as making environmental pledges, sorting items using the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle), and creating eco-friendly cleaning solutions, the children learnt that small everyday actions can contribute to a more sustainable future and that everyone has a role to play in protecting our Earth.

23 April 2026 Finding Out: Earth Day Learning Journey to Marina Barrage (K2) To deepen their understanding of sustainability, the K2 children visited Marina Barrage and the Sustainable Singapore Gallery, where they learnt about environmental conservation, water sustainability and responsible waste management. Through interactive experiences, they explored recycling, classified recyclable materials and discovered creative ways to reuse resources by transforming fabric into functional purses. These experiences helped the children develop a greater appreciation for conserving resources and making environmentally responsible choices. 🌱♻️💧

May 2026 – Go Green Exploration (PG-K2) Back in school, the children continued their inquiry through a month-long series of Go Green activities. Week 1: Reduce – Children's Green Pledge Wall Children reflected on how they could care for the Earth by colouring, drawing or writing their environmental pledges. Together, they created a Green Pledge Tree filled with promises to protect the environment through everyday actions. Week 2: Recycle – Making NEW Paper Children transformed used paper into recycled paper, gaining first-hand experience of the recycling process and learning how discarded materials can be turned into something useful again. Week 3: Reuse – Trash to Treasure Children creatively reused everyday materials to create meaningful crafts, learning that many items can be repurposed instead of being thrown away. Week 4: Save Earth – Plant a Seed Children planted vegetable seeds in recycled egg cartons and learnt about caring for living things, developing an appreciation for nature and environmental stewardship. 🌱
