Our K1 children had an enriching assembly talk with Ms Nicole Liang from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) as part of our SSDB project collaboration with SFA. The children discovered more about Singapore’s local farms and the different types of produce grown here. They learned why choosing local food is a sustainable choice; it is fresh, supports local farms and travels fewer food miles to reach our tables. They also explored how to identify locally farmed produce and learned simple food safety and safe food-handling practices to keep in mind when handling and enjoying food. Through this meaningful collaboration, our children are taking small but important steps towards becoming more informed and responsible food consumers. Every sustainable habit counts!
