On 7 September 2026, our N2, K1 and K2 children, along with their teachers and parent volunteers, gathered at Pasir Ris Park for a meaningful morning of caring for our environment. This special outing marked the finale of our SSDB project, where the children had been learning about caring for the community and making a positive difference in the environment.

When they arrived at the park, the children were excited to explore the surroundings and put their learning into action. Equipped with gloves and litter-picking tools, they worked alongside their families and teachers to look around the park and collect litter found along the way.

As the children picked up different types of litter, they became more aware of how everyday actions can affect our environment. They discovered that even small pieces of rubbish, such as plastic wrappers and other discarded items, can make a difference to the cleanliness of our shared spaces.

The children also had opportunities to work together, share the litter-picking tools, and encourage one another. Through this hands-on experience, they learnt that caring for the environment is not only about keeping our surroundings clean, but also about taking responsibility for the community spaces that we share.

After the clean-up, everyone came together for a picnic at the park. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children, families and teachers to relax, connect and enjoy the natural surroundings after their efforts.

The park clean-up was a meaningful way to conclude our SSDB journey. More importantly, it reminded our children that everyone can play a part in caring for the environment. Through simple actions such as picking up litter, reducing waste and keeping our shared spaces clean, our children are taking their first steps towards becoming responsible and caring members of the community.

Together, we can make a difference—one small action at a time.
