Parental Involvement Activity: "Family Fun: Build your own Recycled Sea Creatures!"

As part of our SSDB project, "Be an Ocean Hero: Save the Oceans," children and their families participated in a meaningful home activity where they created marine life creatures using recycled materials. Parents and children worked together to transform everyday recyclable items, such as plastic bottles, cardboard boxes, paper rolls, and containers, into creative representations of marine animals.

This activity provided children with an opportunity to apply their understanding of recycling while developing creativity, problem-solving, and fine motor skills. More importantly, it strengthened the home-school partnership by encouraging families to engage in conversations about environmental responsibility and the importance of protecting our oceans.

Upon returning to school, the children proudly brought their completed creations and participated in a Show and Tell session. Each child confidently presented their marine creature to their classmates, sharing the materials used, explaining how it was made, and describing the chosen marine animal. This experience helped develop their communication skills, confidence in speaking, and ability to express their ideas while reinforcing their learning about marine life and sustainability.

The activity highlighted the value of meaningful home learning experiences in supporting children's understanding of environmental stewardship and inspiring them to become young Ocean Heroes.
