Continuing our Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) journey with the Singapore Red Cross, our children participated in a hands-on CPR & AED Awareness Workshop, together with their parents. Building on what they had learnt during the earlier Red Cross Junior session, the children were introduced to basic life-saving skills and learnt what they could do when someone needs help during an emergency.
With guidance from the Singapore Red Cross facilitators, the children learnt about Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the purpose of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Using CPR manikins and training AEDs, they had the opportunity to practise chest compressions and follow simple steps in responding to an emergency. Parents joined their children during the hands-on activities, making the experience even more meaningful and engaging.
Through this interactive workshop, the children developed greater awareness of emergency preparedness, safety and helping others in need. More importantly, the experience reinforced the values of care, responsibility and compassion that we hope to nurture through our SSDB project. It was wonderful to see our young learners participating confidently alongside their families and discovering that even at a young age, they can learn how to help others.
