Introduction to Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) 2026 Children were introduced to Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) 2026 through this year's theme, "With Every Child We Shape Tomorrow," using the story WonderBot and the Time Travel Capsule as a provocation for learning. The story invited children to travel back in time to discover how Singapore's environment has changed over the years, encouraging them to think about the important role everyone plays in caring for the places around them.

As the story unfolded, children demonstrated great curiosity and enthusiasm, actively making observations and asking thoughtful questions about the illustrations. They noticed that the Singapore River looked much dirtier in the past and were eager to find out why the water was not as clean as it is today. Many children also observed that the sky appeared grey in the illustrations and wondered what had caused the difference. These questions led to meaningful discussions about pollution, littering, and how people's actions can affect the environment.

Children were encouraged to compare photographs of Singapore from the past with photographs of Singapore today. They carefully identified similarities and differences, sharing their observations about cleaner rivers, greener surroundings, and well-maintained public spaces. Through these discussions, they began to understand that Singapore has changed over time because many people worked together to care for the environment. Children eagerly shared their experiences of visiting parks, gardens, and neighbourhoods and discussed how they could help keep these places clean.

The story served as an engaging introduction to the concepts of environmental responsibility and sustainability. Children shared ideas about how they could become "Little Eco Heroes" by reducing waste, reusing materials, recycling correctly, and caring for shared spaces both at school and at home. Their thoughtful questions, detailed observations, and willingness to compare the past with the present reflected a high level of interest and curiosity, providing a strong foundation for the class's SSDB learning journey.

This introductory experience helped children recognise that the clean and green environment they enjoy today is the result of many years of collective effort. More importantly, they began to understand that they, too, have an important role to play in shaping a greener and more sustainable tomorrow through their everyday actions, bringing the SSDB 2026 theme, "With Every Child We Shape Tomorrow," to life.
