The K1 children embarked on a “Planting Journey “amidst the circuit breaker period. They have learnt earlier about the importance of how we should take care of the environment. In addition, they also learnt the big topic of “sustainability” in conjunction with our term 2 theme on “Nature” Hence, we decided that the children will have a hands- on experience in learning to be “mini gardeners” They would learn how to grow and manage their own crops, record observations and lastly brainstorm ideas on how they could “protect the environment in future as well. The children beamed with excitement when they were given a packet of seeds (Kang kung), a packet of soil and also a mini pot. They were also encouraged to record their observations in a mini booklet entitled “My Planting Booklet”. The children also had opportunities to share their ideas with their parents and siblings at home using varied drawings and crafts.
