Our K2 children went on an exciting field trip to Greenhood Garden, where they explored the world of gardening and discovered how vegetables are grown. They observed different plants and learned about hydroponic gardening, where vegetables can grow using water and nutrients instead of soil. The children were curious as they looked closely at the plants and learned about how farmers care for them.
The children also had the opportunity to learn about transplanting. With guidance, they carefully moved young plants from one place to another, learning to handle the delicate plants gently. They observed the roots, leaves and growing process while developing an appreciation for the care and effort needed to grow vegetables.
Through this hands-on experience, the children enjoyed becoming little farmers for the day! They experienced planting and caring for vegetables while learning where our food comes from. The field trip encouraged their curiosity, responsibility and appreciation for nature, while giving them a meaningful real-life experience of how vegetables are grown from plants to food.
As part of our sustainability journey, the K2 children went on a field trip to Greenhood Farm, a nearby community garden, where they had the opportunity to learn about hydroponic planting.
Through this hands-on experience, the children explored how plants can grow using water and nutrients without soil. They observed the different stages of plant growth and learned how hydroponics can be a sustainable way of growing food in our community.
The experience encouraged the children to be curious about where our food comes from and how we can care for plants and the environment. It also inspired them to think about how sustainable practices, such as hydroponic planting, can help us make better use of our resources and create a greener community.
