To wrap up our SSDB 2026 Project on Macaques, the children brought their learning home through a special SSDB Take-Home Activity. Each child received a take-home kit containing their custom tote bag made from their pre-loved clothes, a cardboard bag tag, their macaque postcard created together with the elderly, a T-shirt from Mandai Zoo and the book, 'Macaques in Our Estate'.
Together with their families, the children designed their own Macaque Safety Bag Tag by drawing a macaque on the front and writing an important safety message on the back, such as “Do not feed the macaques,” “Keep a safe distance from macaques,” or “Throw your rubbish properly.” Once completed, the children attached their bag tag to their custom tote bag and used it with their families. We hope that the bag with the tag would bring awareness of protecting our local wildlife to beyond classrooms.
This take-home activity provided a meaningful way to conclude our SSDB journey by allowing the children to apply and share what they had learnt beyond the classroom and in their daily life. By involving their families, the children became little advocates for macaque safety, spreading awareness about how we can live safely and responsibly alongside macaques in our community.
