The school organised a visit to SPCA on 1st September. The objective of this visit was to create awareness in the children of the organisation’s roles - to provide a shelter for abandoned/sick/injured/abused/ neglected animals. The organisation also provides 24 hour emergency animal rescue, animal welfare and cruelty investigations and rehoming/adoption of animals.

The children learnt how special cats are in terms of their sense of hearing and sight, that cats are natural hunters and how they sharpen their claws to help them in this aspect. The children also learnt how cats use their special tongue to keep themselves clean, their diet; their behaviour and what is needed to build a home should they intend to keep a pet cat.

The children were also brought to see the enclosures where all the rescued felines were housed whilst awaiting adoption.

All too soon, this educational learning journey came to an end but the children had so much to take home with them!
