Our K1 children visited 650 Sparklecare as part of our SSDB activity and community involvement to celebrate Hari Raya with the elderly.
Prior to the visit, the children were introduced to the importance of being grateful for our grandparents and the elderly, and learned to appreciate the love, care, and wisdom they can share with us. The children prepared a song and dance presentation and made handmade cards and crafts as gifts for the residents.
During the visit, the children had the opportunity to interact with the elderly through conversations and a meaningful batik painting activity. They presented their song and dance, shared their handmade gifts, and worked alongside the elderly to create their own batik-inspired artwork.
It was truly a nurturing and meaningful intergenerational experience for both the children and the elderly. Through this experience, the children developed empathy, respect, confidence, and a greater appreciation for the elderly in our community. At the same time, their presence and participation brought joy and warmth to the residents as they celebrated Hari Raya together.
The experience reminded our children that small acts of kindness, creativity, and spending meaningful time with others can make a positive difference in the community.
