At Star Learners @ Changi Simei, we believe in nurturing children to become Inspiring Heroes who make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Guided by our HERO core values: Happy Learners Empathic Thinkers Respectful, Confident Communicators Open Collaborators
Children will develop a greater awareness of how family members may express and receive love in different ways. Through the 5 Love Languages activity stations, children and parents will engage in shared experiences, communication and reflection, helping children recognise and appreciate the different ways they can show care and affection towards their loved ones.
● Receiving gifts Parents were given an envelope containing stickers to present as a gift to their child. Through this activity, children will experience the joy of giving and receiving gifts. Emphasis will be placed on how gifts do not need to be big or expensive to be meaningful. Even a simple gift, such as stickers, can be a thoughtful way of showing love and appreciation.
● Physical Touch Parents and children engaged in different acts of physical affection, such as fist bumps, hugs and high-fives. Through these interactions, children will learn that appropriate physical touch can be a meaningful way of expressing love, care and affection towards one another.
● Quality time Using small whiteboards, parents and children will draw what quality time means to them and share their drawings with one another. Through this activity, they will learn about each other’s preferences and understand that spending meaningful time together can be a way of expressing love and strengthening their relationship.
● Words of Affirmation Through a beanbag toss game, parents will use words of encouragement to motivate their children as they throw the beanbags and match them to the correct colours. Parents will reflect on how their child responds to positive words, while children will share how they feel when they hear encouraging phrases such as, “I see you tried your best!”
● Acts of service Parents and children work in small groups with other families to play a game of charades featuring different acts of service, such as pouring drinks, folding laundry and ironing clothes. Through the activity, children will learn that helping others and doing thoughtful things for them are meaningful ways of showing love and care.
Through SSDB 2026, we hope to encourage children and families to: ♡ Spend meaningful quality time together ♡ Strengthen parent-child relationships ♡ Appreciate parents, grandparents, and caregivers ♡ Create memories through shared experiences
Every child’s journey begins with the people who love and support them.
