The journey of building our compost bin!

To begin the journey of SSDB, children learnt about food wastage - where they can find, what causes food wastage and who are the people who causes food wastage. Children also did a KWL chart about food wastage.

Following next, children learn about ways to reduce wastage. One main focus involve the building of compost bin.

On the first part, children read a story on “Save the Scrap” by Bethany Stahl. They learnt about how the author save the scraps for the compost bins.

On the second part, children followed the steps to create their compost bin by doing so in groups.

Through their learning and discovery, children created their individual bag of compost soil.

On the last part, in collaboration with the K1s’ fundraising, children used the composted soil to grow some vegetables.

Let’s see how well the vegetables would grow to be!!
