Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) 2026: Gardening Project

During the month of May 2026, as part of our ongoing Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) 2026 efforts, the children of Carpe Diem MI Schoolhouse participated in a meaningful Gardening Project, where each class explored different hands-on gardening experiences suited to their age.

Our Playgroup and Nursery 1 children learned how to plant potatoes by preparing the soil, planting, and watering them. Nursery 2 children nurtured onion bulbs by observing their growth and learning the importance of sunlight and water. Kindergarten 1 children planted seedlings and worked together to care for them, while Kindergarten 2 children took responsibility for maintaining the garden by watering plants, removing dead leaves, and clearing excess water to keep the garden healthy and safe.

Through these meaningful experiences, the children developed responsibility, patience, teamwork, respect for the environment, and a greater appreciation for nature. They also discovered that caring for plants is one way of protecting the environment and contributing to a greener, healthier community.

This meaningful project reflects the spirit of Start Small Dream Big by encouraging children to become caring and environmentally responsible individuals who understand that even the smallest actions can create a positive impact on their community and the world around them.
