Our centre officially launched our Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project, "Giving from the Heart," in partnership with Food from the Heart. The launch began with a meaningful sharing session by a representative from Food from the Heart, followed by a role-play by the teachers that helped the children understand the importance of supporting those in need.

The children then participated in a series of interactive games that reinforced the values of kindness, empathy, and generosity while learning about food donations in a fun and engaging way.
As part of the project launch, Ms Fathin, a representative from Food from the Heart, visited the centre during the June Holidays to introduce the organisation and its mission of reducing food waste while supporting those in need. She also conducted an engaging talk for the K1 and K2 children, where she explained to the children the types of food items that can and cannot be donated, helping them understand the importance of donating suitable and safe food to support the community.
The K1 and K2 children gathered for a group photograph with Ms Fathin after the talk. The children actively participated by answering questions about food donations, and those who answered correctly were rewarded with stickers, making the learning experience both enjoyable and meaningful.

During the launch, the teachers presented a role-play as an elderly couple who did not have enough food to eat. Through the skit, the children learnt about the challenges some families face in accessing daily necessities. The elderly couple expressed their joy and gratitude upon receiving a Food from the Heart donation package, helping the children understand how their donations can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and encouraging empathy and kindness towards those in need.

To reinforce their learning, the children participated in a series of engaging hands-on activities. In the first activity, "Kindness Hearts," the children sat in a circle and passed around a heart while completing the sentence, "I can help by sharing..." This activity encouraged them to reflect on their intentions to care for others and express thoughtful ways they could show kindness, generosity, and compassion in their daily lives.

The children worked together in a sorting game, identifying which food items were suitable for donation and which were not. Through this hands-on activity, they learnt to make thoughtful and responsible choices when selecting food items to donate, reinforcing the importance of giving safe and appropriate food to those in need.

The launch concluded with an exciting Delivery Helpers Obstacle Course, where the children role-played as Food from the Heart delivery volunteers. They carefully carried donated food items through an obstacle course before placing them into the donation box. This engaging activity gave the children a better understanding of the effort involved in delivering food to families in need, while fostering teamwork, perseverance, responsibility, and compassion.
Through these meaningful experiences, the children developed a deeper understanding of kindness, generosity, and community responsibility as they embarked on their Start Small Dream Big journey.
