The SSDB 2026 project provides children with meaningful opportunities to care for the environment through hands-on and collaborative experiences. Teachers introduce the project through storytelling to instil important values such as kindness, empathy, and social responsibility. These stories guide children to understand how their small actions can make a difference.

Children participate in an engaging session conducted by ALBA, where they learn about e-waste and recycling through interactive games. This is followed by an e-waste collection drive held in April, ending on 24 April 2026, where families and the community are encouraged to contribute recyclable electronic items.

In alignment with the School Green Award (SGA), children take part in activities such as tree planting and a park clean-up, allowing them to actively care for their environment. Monthly themes such as food waste, energy conservation and water conservation are reinforced through discussions, daily practices, and creative activities like poster-making.

As part of our project, we used resources from Preschool Market and the Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM) to encourage children to express kindness and gratitude. The children used the materials to show their appreciation to the aunties and teachers in our centre, helping them learn the importance of recognising and thanking the people who care for and support them.

Throughout the project, children engage in simple recycling tasks, collaborative learning, and reflection activities. These experiences build their confidence, responsibility, and sense of agency. The project concludes with a celebration of their efforts, reinforcing the belief that small hands can create big change for a better planet. As a joyful finale to our SSDB journey, the children danced to “Kindness, It’s Up to Us,” celebrating the values of kindness, care, and compassion they had learned. Through the dance, the children shared the meaningful message that everyone can play a part in spreading kindness and making a positive difference in the community.
