Showing appreciation to our neighbourhood heroes ❣️

This time round, the K1 children went on a community walk🚶🏻‍♂️to pick up litters as part of an effort to maintain the cleanliness of our neighbourhood 🏘. Before heading out, we discussed mainly about the different types of commonly found rubbish, what can and cannot be recycled and the consequences of a dirty environment. Throughout the journey, the children showed extreme eagerness in identifying the names of various litters and assessing the possibility of the litters being recycled as well as displayed great activeness in discarding litters. Apart from these, they have also developed a deeper understanding of the environmental issues that we encounter (e.g., land pollution and wastage of resources) and equipped themselves with skills to make informed and responsible decisions (e.g., some of them exclaimed that they will keep their trash by their sides and only throw them away upon spotting bins 🗑 whereas others shared that they will choose to wash their plastic containers etc and recycle them in the recycling bins ♻️).

Other than learning more about the environment and the important roles that the children can play in protecting nature, they also recognised the collective efforts contributed by the garbage collectors in ensuring that we live in a clean and green environment 🌳 (e.g., having to embrace the heat and bend down their bodies to collect the trash repeatedly).

With the children having so much awe and respect for the garbage collectors, we have decided that we should show our gratitude for all the hard work that they have put in ❤️. Thus, we asked the children to each write a ‘Thank you for your service!’ note, consolidated them on a board and invited them to hand it over to the garbage collectors.

This initiative not only brings about smilies on their faces but also, it leaves a significant impact on the children and with that, we pledge to go green and make our Earth 🌍 a beautiful place to live.
