In a collaborative effort with the National Environment Agency (NEA), our students embarked on a meaningful excursion to Sembawang Park. Here, they actively participated in a litter-picking initiative, aligning with the themes explored in our storybook, “Little Otter, Litter Trouble”. Through this hands-on experience, children gained insight into the significance of maintaining cleanliness in our surroundings and safeguarding marine life.

While engaging in litter picking, the young explorers encountered a diverse array of waste, ranging from plastic bottles to miscellaneous debris, heightening their awareness of environmental conservation. Beyond this task, they immersed themselves in the park’s rich tapestry of natural wonders, including its sandy beaches, lush mangrove forests, and rugged rocky shores. Amidst these natural marvels, they also marveled at the colonial-era charm of Beaulieu House and the iconic Sembawang Jetty.

This holistic exploration not only nurtured a profound connection with nature but also nurtured children’s innate curiosity and reverence for the environment. Ultimately, the excursion to Sembawang Park served as a pivotal educational experience, instilling in the children vital lessons on environmental stewardship, biodiversity, and the imperative of preserving our ecosystems for posterity.
