Overview of Our Centre’s SSDB Project 2026

Our SSDB Project 2026 focused on promoting multicultural awareness and appreciation among children. Through a variety of engaging experiences, including storytelling, music, traditional costumes, food exploration, and cultural discussions, children learned about the rich diversity of cultures found in Singapore and around the world. They participated in meaningful hands-on activities such as cultural arts and crafts, traditional dance, role-playing, and interactive games, which helped deepen their understanding of different cultural practices, values, and traditions.

Community Partner(s) Involved

Parents and family members played an important role in supporting the project by sharing their cultural backgrounds, traditions, languages, and personal experiences with the children. Their contributions provided authentic learning opportunities and enriched the children’s understanding of diverse cultures. Parents also actively participated in the Dance Workshop, where they learned and celebrated cultural dances alongside their children.

Through this project, children developed greater respect, appreciation, and sensitivity towards cultural diversity. They gained confidence in sharing aspects of their own cultural heritage and learned to value and embrace similarities and differences among people from various backgrounds. The project also strengthened their social and communication skills as they engaged in collaborative activities and discussions with peers and community members.

Families became more actively involved in school programmes and activities, strengthening home-school partnerships and fostering a stronger sense of community. Furthermore, the children had the valuable opportunity to interact with seniors from St. Luke's ElderCare through multicultural celebration activities. These intergenerational experiences allowed children to learn from the seniors' stories and experiences while promoting mutual respect, understanding, and community connectedness. Overall, the project nurtured inclusive values and encouraged children to become caring, respectful, and culturally aware members of society.
