Pariposa Preschool Community Involvement Programs - Keep Clean, Singapore Beach Clean Up 2019 and LitteRally event

As part of our *Start Small Dream Big 2019* mission to continuously spread Kindness in the Environment, Pariposa Preschool participated in two community involvement program namely *“Keep Clean,Singapore” by Public Hygiene Council and the “LitteRally event” organized by Habitat for Humanity Singapore.*

This is a combined effort by the school and parents to ensure a clean and litter-free community.

On 21st May, the older children participated in a community involvement program known as Keep Clean, Singapore 2019 through a beach clean-up to promote acts of civic-mindedness and to show others how to keep public spaces clean.

The children learnt that the beach is not only a public place for everyone to share and use but it is also a habitat to some common living creatures who have made the beach their “home.”

On the 25th May, teachers,parents and children walked around Ang Mo Kio and all the way to Bishan Park to pick up litter seen around the area.

After the litter-picking activity,we visited a few pop-up booth to learn how to reuse recylables such as bottle caps and milk cartons to turn it into useful items like fridge magnets and a coin pouch.

*LitteRally event was a great family-friendly event as together we spread kindness to the environment by advocating for a litter-free community. *

Through our community involvement programs, we want to educate children to move towards a culture of collective responsibility for the cleanliness of our environment and make “unlittering” a social norm.

We are making an effort to ensure that our journey towards going green and embracing a culture of zero-water living and upcycling does not stop here.
