Our SSDB journey began with our “Small Steps, Big Smiles, Greener World!” launch party! 🌱 Children came together to learn about sustainability while being introduced to the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Through fun and meaningful activities, our children discovered that even small actions can make a difference. It was a joyful start to our sustainability journey as we learnt how we can care for our environment together. 💚
Our children from Playgroup to Kindergarten 2 came together to spread the message of sustainability through colourful posters. From colouring and handprints to creating their own posters, each level shared their understanding of the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in their own creative ways. Through this experience, children learnt that everyone has a part to play in caring for our planet.
Our little 'Recycling Rangers' were ready for action! Our Playgroup children explored different recyclable materials through a simple sorting activity. They then went on an outdoor walk to look for recycling bins around the school. Along the way, they practised identifying where recyclables belong and learnt that even our youngest children can take small steps towards caring for the environment.
Our N1 children discovered that materials we no longer need can be given a new purpose. Using recyclable materials, they worked together to create their very own houses. Through this hands-on experience, they explored creativity while learning about the importance of reusing resources. It was wonderful to see their imagination turn everyday materials into something new!
Our N2 children explored how old and recyclable materials can be transformed into something fun and useful. They got creative by designing and making their own musical instruments using recycled materials. Through this hands-on experience, children discovered that items we no longer need can have a new purpose. Learning about sustainability became a fun and musical experience!
Our children continued their sustainability journey by learning beyond the classroom and putting their knowledge into action. Through their visit to the Singapore Sustainability Gallery at Marina Barrage, they explored sustainability and discovered more about the importance of the 3Rs. Back in school, they strengthened their understanding by sorting different recyclable materials into the correct bins. They also explored upcycling by transforming old T-shirts into new envelopes, discovering that used materials can be given a new purpose. Through these meaningful hands-on experiences, our children learnt that small actions can help reduce waste and make a positive difference to our environment.
Throughout our SSDB journey, our children discovered that every little action counts. From sorting recyclables to reusing materials and creating something new, they learnt that they can play an important role in caring for our planet. These meaningful experiences encouraged our children to make more sustainable choices in their everyday lives. Together, we learnt that small steps can create big smiles and contribute towards a greener world. 🌱
