🌱 Our SSDB Journey: Small Actions, Big Impact 1. We Started by Building Awareness Our journey began with the SSDB Launch Party, where children were introduced to ways they could care for nature and the environment. They shared ideas about recycling, reusing materials and conserving water, discovering that even small actions can make a difference. From awareness to everyday practice.

2. We Put Our Learning into Action. Environmental learning became part of our everyday experiences. Recycled materials were transformed into resources for our dramatic play and learning corners, showing children that items can be reused creatively instead of being discarded. Bringing the learning beyond school.

3. We Involved Our Families . Families joined our journey by practising eco-friendly habits at home, such as recycling, saving water and switching off unused lights. Children proudly shared these experiences with their friends, strengthening the connection between home and school.

4. We Learnt About Responsible Waste Disposal . Through our partnership with ALBA E-Waste Singapore, children discovered what e-waste is and why it needs to be disposed of responsibly. They sorted e-waste and later put their knowledge into action through our centre’s e-waste collection initiative.

5. We Extended Our Impact. During Parent Engagement Day, children and families learnt about proper waste disposal and made pledges on how they could help protect the environment. Environmental learning was also incorporated into celebrations such as Book Club Day, Racial Harmony Day, National Day and Mid-Autumn celebrations through the creative reuse of materials. From caring for our land to caring for our water.

6. We Discovered Why Every Drop Matters Through PUB’s Water Wally and Sally stories, children explored water conservation, responsible water use and water pollution. They began making connections between their actions and the importance of keeping our waterways clean.

7. We Connected Our Learning to Marine Life Our journey culminated at the Singapore Oceanarium. Through A Plastic Tale, children discovered how rubbish from land can eventually enter the ocean and harm marine animals. Seeing marine life up close helped transform an environmental issue into something meaningful and real for them.

Our Impact: Small Actions Really Do Matter 55 children • 70% parent participation • 3 community hours • 3 community partners

Through the support of ALBA E-Waste Singapore, PUB and Singapore Oceanarium, our children progressed from learning about the environment → practising sustainable habits → involving their families → understanding real-world environmental issues → developing empathy and taking responsibility.

Most importantly, they discovered that they do not have to do something big to make a difference.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Save water. Keep our waterways clean. Care for living things.

✨ When everyone takes a small action, together we can make a big impact.
