Our Start Small Dream Big journey, “Caring for Our World, One Choice at a Time,” was launched to nurture children’s awareness and responsibility towards the environment. Through hands-on activities, children explored simple ways to reduce waste, reuse materials, and make thoughtful choices.

The launch marked the beginning of our ongoing sustainability efforts across Infant Care to K2, including recycled-material learning centres, outdoor experiences, field trips, and community engagement. Through these experiences, we hope to nurture children who are curious, responsible, and empowered to care for their environment—one small choice at a time.

Across our learning centres, children from Infant Care to K2 are given meaningful opportunities to explore sustainability through play, hands-on learning, and real-world experiences. Recycled and repurposed materials such as cardboard, bottle caps, containers, paper rolls, metal cans and plastic materials are incorporated into the learning centres for children to create, sort, build, investigate, and explore. Through these experiences, children learn that everyday materials can be reused in creative and purposeful ways rather than simply being discarded.

Our focus on sustainability extends beyond the classroom through field trips and outdoor learning experiences related to environmental awareness and sustainability. We also bring our sustainability efforts into the wider community by engaging with the Active Ageing Centre, where children participate in activities with seniors using sustainable and recycled materials. These intergenerational experiences allow children to share, create, and learn alongside the elderly while developing an understanding that sustainability is a shared responsibility across generations.

Through these experiences, children develop learning dispositions such as sense of wonder and curiosity, perseverance, and perseverance as they explore different possibilities, experiment with materials, and find solutions. They also develop our core values of respect, responsibility, and care by learning to care for resources, make thoughtful choices, work cooperatively, and take responsibility for their environment and community.

By embedding sustainability across our learning centres, field trips, and community partnerships, we aim to nurture children who are curious about the world around them and understand that they can play an active role in reducing waste, reusing resources, caring for the environment, and contributing positively to their community.
