As part of our SSDB project, the children explored how they can care for the environment through planting and reusing materials. They used empty milk cartons as planting containers, discovering how everyday items can be given a new purpose instead of being thrown away.

The children also explored the garden and learnt about different plants growing around them. This provided opportunities to observe plants closely and learn about their needs, including water, sunlight and suitable conditions to grow.

Through the planting experience, the children were introduced to the responsibility of caring for living things. They learnt about watering plants appropriately, handling them gently and giving them regular care.

These hands-on experiences encouraged curiosity, patience and care for the environment. By reusing milk cartons and learning to look after plants, the children began to understand how small actions can help create a greener world.

Families can continue this learning at home by exploring plants in their neighbourhood and involving their children in caring for a plant together.
