The N1 SSDB project, themed “Little Artists, Big Hearts”, was a meaningful and enriching experience that brought together our N1 children, families, and the community. The project aimed to provide children with an opportunity to express their creativity through art while developing an understanding of kindness and giving back to the community.
As part of the project, the children were first introduced to several famous artists and their unique styles of artwork. The children were encouraged to observe the artists’ artworks. Inspired by the artists they explored, the N1 children then embarked on their own creative art-making journey. They experimented with different colours, textures, shapes, and painting techniques, while putting their own ideas and imagination into their artworks. This process allowed them to develop confidence, creativity, and an appreciation for different forms of artistic expression.
Throughout the preparation process, the children took pride in seeing their ideas come to life. They were excited to share their completed artworks and talk about the inspiration behind their creations. Their artworks were proudly displayed during the showcase for families and friends to admire, providing the children with a sense of accomplishment and confidence in their abilities.
Parents and family members were invited to appreciate the children’s creative efforts . The art showcase provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to share their artistic creations with their loved ones, strengthening family bonds and encouraging meaningful conversations about their learning experiences. In addition, parents were given the opportunity to purchase their child’s artwork as a meaningful keepsake. Importantly, every purchase made served as a donation to the NTUC Community Fund, supporting initiatives that empower and assist children and seniors across Singapore.
Through this project, the children learnt that art is not only a way to express themselves, but can also be a way to show kindness and generosity towards others. They discovered that their little hands and creative ideas could make a meaningful difference in the community. The “Little Artists, Big Hearts” showcase was therefore more than an art exhibition. It was a heartwarming celebration of creativity, children’s voices, family involvement and generosity, making it a meaningful experience for all involved.
