For our Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project, we focused on the theme on Kindness. Our aim is to help children understand the meaning of kindness and encourage them to show care and consideration towards others through their daily actions and interactions.

During the June holidays, our children participated in a series of lessons focused on kindness. The lessons encouraged them to reflect on how they can show care and consideration towards others through their words and actions. The teachers also used learning resources provided by the Singapore Kindness Movement to support the children's learning and discussions on kindness.

The activities included listening to stories about kindness and friendship, sharing their own experiences through the Kindness Jar, and taking part in role-play activities to identify kind and unkind behaviours. They also created thank-you and encouragement cards for the teaching and non-teaching staff as a way of showing appreciation to the people around them. They wrote letters to Singa to share how they show kindness to the people around them, such as helping, sharing and caring for others. The children then mailed their letters to Singa, giving them an opportunity to reflect on their own kind actions and share what they had learnt about kindness.

Our centre partnered with The Food Bank Singapore to organise a food drive from 22 to 26 June 2026. The food drive provided an opportunity for the children and their families to put kindness into action by contributing food items to help those in the community who may need support. Teachers introduced the food drive to the children and explained how their donations could help others in the community. Information about the food drive was also shared with parents through a message, encouraging families to participate by bringing food items from home for donation. This encouraged parents to participate together with their children and support them in practising kindness through giving and sharing.

They were also introduced to the food drive and learnt how giving and sharing can be a way of showing kindness. The children worked together to decorate the food drive collection box and contributed food items for donation.

From decorating the collection box to participating in the food drive, the children were excited and happy to be involved in the initiative. They were proud to see the food items collected for donation and were happy to know that their contributions could help others.

The children and their families generously contributed 114 kg of food, which was equivalent to approximately 380 wholesome meals for Food Bank Singapore's beneficiaries. Overall, the project provided the children with meaningful opportunities to learn about kindness and put their learning into practice. They learnt that kindness can be shown through simple actions such as giving, sharing and helping others, and that these small acts can make a positive difference in the community.
