Since March 2026, our children have been helping to give leftover water from washing vegetables in the kitchen a second purpose. Instead of letting this water go to waste, we collect it and use it to water the plants, vegetables and flowers in our garden.
The children take part in watering the garden and see how their actions help care for the plants. This gives them a meaningful way to learn about conserving water through something they can do themselves. As they visit the garden over time, they can observe the plants and talk about what they need to grow.
This ongoing practice reminds us that caring for the environment can begin with small, everyday choices. By reusing water that would otherwise be discarded, the children are learning to value our resources and take responsibility for the living things around them.
