Our last project for this year’s SSDB Project is “Keep Our Parks Clean”. For the pre-event activity, we invited a speaker from NEA to give a brief talk about our surrounding/environment & how to keep it clean. The children were very co-operative and came up with suggestions on how to keep our surrounding clean. We discussed things that we needed and the type of rubbish that we would be picking up.

Clean Up Pasir Ris Park Project: K1 & K2 Children and Parents!

We were very excited on this day! Many thanks to parents who took time off from work to participate in this project. Before we went into action, children were debriefed on what to do. Teachers distributed tongs, gloves and plastics to the children and parents.

Despite the hot weather, parents and children enjoyed the activity. One parent quoted, “It’s just a nice thing to do on a sunny day.”

A token of appreciation to our cleaners for their hardwork, our parents and children gave origami hearts made from home to the cleaners.

After the clean up activity, the children distributed their self-made cards with “Thank You For Keeping Our Park Clean” wordings.

We ended with a short picnic at the park. It was the time that we had the chance to talk and reflect on the activity that we did. One parent quoted, “The morning was very productive and make me feel like I have done something positive.” Some children said that they really had a good time picking up trash and they were very proud of themselves. Lastly, another parent quoted, “Giving up a few hours of your time to your community leaves you with a genuinely satisfied feeling”. We all agreed so do find time to participate in community work with your child.
