For this year’s SSDB, we partnered with NEA to go for the Go Green SG movement. When we launched the project on April 23, we used the resources from NEA to help children understand the importance of sustainability. Afterwards, children were given opportunities to demonstrate their understanding of sustainability by creating a spice garden at Jamiyah Home for the Aged.

To produce a healthy garden, children were involved in making organic compost by going for a neighbourhood walk with their teachers to collect green and brown waste. Then they worked with their parents to set up the garden and fertilise the land with compost.

On July 23, the children harvested the spices with the help of the residents and shared the spices with JHA. The initiative was recognised by the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment and appreciation was given to the children by SPS Rahayu through her visit to the garden.

Thank you
