We kicked off our Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) project, “How Can We Make Ocean Water Safe to Drink?”, with an exciting mass introduction!

The children were introduced to this year’s SSDB theme through PUB’s storybook, Meng Was Thirsty. Through the story, they explored the importance of water and discussed what life would be like if water were no longer available. These meaningful conversations led them to our project inquiry question: “How Can We Make Ocean Water Safe to Drink?”

During the June holidays, the children continued their learning by planning and creating 3D prototypes of their own inventions. They thoughtfully designed machines that could help clean ocean water and make it safe for drinking, showcasing their creativity, problem-solving skills, and innovative thinking.

Each level explored the project in different ways:

* N2: Investigated how water filtration works through hands-on experiments before designing and building their own water filter machines. * K1: Designed and created their AquaBots—robots that swim through the ocean to help clean polluted water. * K2: Designed and built their own Water Cleaning Machines, thinking critically about how their inventions could filter ocean water and generate clean, safe water.

Through this project, the children are developing their creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and inquiry skills while deepening their understanding of water conservation and the importance of protecting our environment.
