This project provided children with meaningful opportunities to connect with their community while developing the values of respect, kindness, care and compassion.
During the Hari Raya celebration, children strengthened intergenerational bonds with seniors while learning about Malay culture and traditions. They performed for the seniors and participated in a ketupat handicraft activity together. Through these interactions, children learnt to show respect, care and appreciation towards the older generation.
Children also visited Dakota MRT Station, where they listened to a sharing by the MRT staff and participated in an interview to learn more about the station, the roles of the staff and how the MRT station operates. Following the visit, children created appreciation cards for the Dakota MRT staff, recognising their hard work during the Tunnel Works closure from January to April.
Through these authentic community experiences, children developed greater awareness of the people and places around them and learnt how they can contribute positively through gratitude, respect and acts of kindness.
