Growing Mushrooms

The children grew Golden Oyster mushrooms! They shared that they were excited to harvest and eat the mushrooms from the kit.

Before harvesting their Golden Oyster mushroom, the chukdren explored two different types of mushrooms: Shitake and Enoki. They enjoyed the sensorial experience of cutting and pulling apart the mushrooms to take a look inside each mushroom.

The excess mushrooms that had dried out and hardened were utilised for art creation!  The children created mushrooms prints using tempera, acrylic and watercolour paint.

When it was finally time to cook their harvest, the children learned how to simple stir-fry vegetable dish and pasta! They appreciated their own cooking efforts and had a delicious meal together!
