To bring our SSDB 2026 “RASA: Food & Senses” journey to a meaningful close, our children turned their learning about food into an act of kindness through a community food donation drive. With the generous support of our parents and families, a variety of non-perishable food items such as rice, noodles, canned food, biscuits and other daily essentials were contributed. The overwhelming response provided children with an opportunity to see how families and the preschool community can come together to support others. Our K1 and K2 children took an active role in sorting and packing the donated items into boxes. As they worked together, teachers engaged them in conversations about why we were collecting the food, who it would help and the importance of sharing what we have with others. This hands-on experience transformed the idea of kindness into something children could see and participate in. Through the process, they demonstrated teamwork, responsibility, empathy, gratitude and generosity. The packed food has been donated to The Food Bank Singapore, where they will be distributed to support individuals and families in need. This initiative was a meaningful conclusion to our RASA journey. What began as an exploration of food and our senses grew into a deeper understanding of appreciation, compassion and social responsibility. Together with our families, our children learnt an important message: little hands can make a big difference.
