Event Activities with Ah Gongs & Ah Mas

In conjunction with the colourful events that take place between May to August, our centre collaborated with Lions Befrienders Senior Activity Centre at Tampines Block 494E and planned activities to celebrate the events. Mother’s Day

We spent two consecutive weeks visiting the Ah Gongs and Ah Mas at the Lions Befrienders Senior Activity Centre to create Mother’s Day cards.

It was heart-warming to see the bond between the seniors and the little ones as they work hand-in-hand, oblivious to the huge age difference between them. The cards were presented to the Grandpas and Grandmas as a token for Mother’s Day and an advanced Father’s Day. Hari Raya Puasa

The children practised 2 songs, Jong Jong Inai and Chan Mali Chan, to perform for the seniors to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa. The Seniors were elated and joined in the singing during the performance. *National Day*

The Nursery 2 and Kindergarten 1 children brought National Day bunting templates to colour together with the grandparents during the one of the regular visits. It was a delightful sight watching the young and old working together to colour and cut the buntings. The buntings were displayed at the Senior Activity Centre during the National Day month of August.

The Ah Mas in the centre also took this opportunity to thank the children for their time and patience towards them with a little token of appreciation.

Our regular visits to the Senior Activity Centre has built a strong bond between the children and the Senior citizens. The interactions between then and the elderly help to expose the children to the society beyond their classrooms, as they learn about compassion and positive values of life.
