As part of our Start Small Dream Big (SSDB) 2026 project, Caring for Families and Friends, the children embarked on a picnic at West Coast Park as our Term 2 field trip. This experience also complemented our Term 2 topic, People Around Me, where children explored the important relationships they share with their families, friends and teachers.

During the picnic, children spent meaningful time bonding with their family members through a fun paper plane-making and throwing activity, encouraging them to work together and enjoy the experience as a family. They also learnt to care for and cooperate with their friends while contributing to a collective suncatcher, where each child played a part in creating something beautiful together.

The children also had opportunities to develop their gross motor skills through active play and movement around the park. Through these shared experiences, they learnt that caring can be shown through spending time together, helping one another, cooperating and enjoying moments as a community.
