In the weeks leading up to the visit, the school was informed about the upcoming visit to Orange Valley Active Ageing Centre. To support the seniors, the school reached out to parents across all levels to contribute food items based on the seniors’ wish list. With the generous support of our school community, parents came together to donate the items, while our centre staff worked together to pack the contributions. This meaningful initiative allowed everyone to play a part in giving back to the community.
With the donations prepared, the K1 children visited the Orange Valley Active Ageing Centre at Woodlands this week to spend time and bond with the seniors. The children taught them simple Zumba dance steps and performed “Singapura Oh Singapura” together, creating a lively and joyful start to their intergenerational bonding experience. They were then paired with seniors to create mosaic art using coloured paper strips, where they shared their names, ages and interests. The children and seniors also enjoyed playing Snakes and Ladders, completing puzzles and exploring tangram activities together. Through these activities, they communicated, shared laughter and built meaningful connections despite the generation gap.
