Since the earlier part of the year, MK@Frontier had started several parental involvement teams which includes a ‘Racial Harmony team’. The parent volunteers had plenty of ideas to be shared for the event activities. Together with the teachers, they came out with several ideas for art and craft activities, preparation of traditional food items for children to taste and decoration for the mock up traditional homes of the different cultures.

A teacher worked together with a child’s parent who networked with her friends (whose children are studying in our school) and made the *tang* *yuan* which was served as a chinese cultural food on the actual day.

The parents helped out in the pre-activities conducted in the classes prior to the event.

We encouraged the parents lend some of their traditional cultural items for the event as well.

One of the child’s parent was helpful and came out with idea of how children could learn to play goli (marbles) in school, due to the space constraints. He filled a box with sand which acted as a barricade. The dad even volunteered to bring his own sand since he works in the construction field.

On the actual event, parent volunteers brought other children together with their own around the booths to enjoy the games and food.

The day before the event, some parents self-volunteered to help out as well. The parents were presented with certificates of appreciation.
